Greetings!

I realize this email is likely catching you at the last minute, as you prepare to travel for the holiday or host a Thanksgiving feast. You don't have much time for anything extra, let alone reading an email.

Which is exactly why my timing is actually perfect.

As much as I always like to say plan, plan, plan for capturing your memories when the family (or even your staff) is all together for the holidays, I realize that most of us just don't have time.

This month's article is all about jumping in and just doing it, even if your video camera is actually your cellphone.

I'm also proud to share this month's featured video, which turned out a fabulous result, even at the last minute.

Though you may feel rushed and stressed this time of year, I hope you will still find a way to capture great moments and make them last.

Wishing you a very memorable & delicious Thanksgiving!

As an organization, you can talk about change and hope people understand. You can write about change and hope they listen. But sometimes, it's best to really show the change, so people understand the feeling and emotion behind it.

One of my favorite things about this video we did for Congregation Beth El was the fact that except for one shot, everything is filmed outside of the synagogue - intentionally. We wanted people to identify with the idea that learning can happen in all kinds of places, not just in a classroom. With the momentum gaining on YouTube, I think the video achieved that goal.

This was my first time working on a video project.  It was great to work with Debbie because she helped me step by step through the process, teaching me as she helped to transform my vision into a powerful video.   Debbie understood my goals and worked with me to develop a video script.  She also was very understanding of deadlines and worked hard to make sure that all appropriate editing was done on time.

ArticleJust Do It Filmmaking

Recently I was asked by a local synagogue to create a video to get people excited about a new program they were launching. With only a month before the deadline, I knew timing would be a challenge, but four weeks gave just enough time. And then I got sick - just before we were supposed to film. Not a cold, but an in-bed-for-an-entire-week kind of sick.   Read more...
